In this episode of LPO, SiteTuners CEO Tim Ash chats with Roger Dooley, head of Dooley Direct and author of "Brainfluence: 100 Ways to Persuade and Convince Consumers with Neuromarketing," about neuroscience and irrational decision-making. Roger shares how technology makes it possible to see which parts of the brain are at work when visitors look at a site. He also shares his findings on business people wanting actionable information based on research and using information based on behavioral research.

Tim and Roger discuss which font works best, notions of anchoring, and the relationship of specific numbers and precision. They talk about the rules of using visual cues in a page, how not to confuse visitors, and the time it takes for people to form judgements about a website. Roger also goes through subconscious impressions and the halo effect that stays with visitors.

The two tackle visual hierarchy, the role of numbers and charts in a page, and videos as powerful attention grabbers. Roger also shares copywriting tips and his rally road racing experiences.
